Through the Clouded Glass : How Did You Get Here?

Positioned as a decentralized solo-show Teiji infiltrated five bus shelter advertising units across Toronto’s west end, replacing their contents with original paintings. The locations were then released publicly, prompting a city-wide search that transformed the work into a distributed, time-based, guerrilla exhibition.

In the second stage of the exhibit, the project extended into an open system: a 3D-printed key, released both physically and via open-source files, enabling anyone to access and intervene in the same infrastructure. Key rings were scattered throughout the city, inviting replication.

This subversive, anti-institutional solo, reclaims spaces used to influence public perception without consent and reframes them as sites for participation, disruption, and community authorship. The project operates as both exhibition and philosophy, grounded in the idea that restriction is an invitation, and that systems of control can be re-engineered for collective mischief.
